Purpose
To connect youth leaders with the various youth ministry opportunities around the world in a practical, experimental, and formative way.
General Description
The Global Youth Ministry Internship is a program designed for youth leaders and young people with a call to youth ministry, who have the desire to serve as full-time volunteers (self sustaining) in another culture or country, through the service opportunities that the Church of the Nazarene offers in many levels and programs.
Through practical (lab experience –three months to one year experience in the field) and supervised (mentor) learning, the participants will develop and improve their ministry skills, while collaborating in the growth of the NYI in a particular place: a local church, a District, a Field or a Region.
Objectives
- To provide service and learning opportunities to youth leaders around the world: youth pastors, volunteers, students, etc.
- To facilitate and support effective development of the NYI ministry around the world, at different levels: Regional, Field, District and local levels.
- To be a part of the corporate effort of the Church of the Nazarene in fulfilling the mission of making Christ-like disciples in the nations.

Philosophy of the program
The Global Youth Ministry Internship has its own fields of praxis revolving around four basic aspects:
- Laboratory experience with an emphasis on youth ministry.
- Informal discussion and personal reflection shown through the mentoring relationship of the intern and assigned mentor.
- An improved understanding of how the Global Church exists and ministers in and to our contemporary and multi-cultural world.
- Support of the development of NYI in the areas of local church, District, Field, and/or Region.
